This week’s WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week†spotlight is on the otherworldly new single “Skinny Legs†from LA-based producer and musician Elohim. The track is a mesmerizing combination of electronic beats and voice manipulation that begins softly and gradually builds into a cacophony of sound and fury.
The mysterious artist burst onto the scene in 2015 with her debut single, “She Talks Too Much,” and has been slowly building her fan-base with each intriguing track released. She selected the moniker of Elohim (the Hebrew name for God) as a sign of empowerment and keeps her personal identity shrouded, masking her face for photo shoots and performances and her voice with text-to-speech software during interviews. This is not simply to hide from the spotlight, but is a conscious decision to let the music speak for itself.
Elohim is one of the most interesting artists creating music these days and I expect we will be hearing a lot more from her as 2017 rolls on.
